Required Dance Class Attire
The
following requirements are for the safety of each
student in and out of class. During class time, the
required attire allows the faculty offers the highest
quality of anatomically correct and injury-free
instruction.
· All students are
required wear cover-ups and street shoes to and from
class.
· All students are
required to wear appropriate attire according to the
dress code specified for each class below.
· Shoes must be worn
before exiting the classroom, and in all other parts of
the building.
· Hair must be secured
from face as listed below for each class.
· No jewelry in class
except pierced ear studs. Wedding bands for adults
allowed at the discretion of the instructor.
· No T-shirts are
allowed in class unless otherwise indicated.
· Dance shoes are not
to be worn outside the studio.
· Dance bags are
required for pre-schoolers and suggested for other
students.
· Write student’s name
on all belongings.
**Please note: It is the student’s responsibility to
arrive with correct shoes and attire for each class. Any
student dressed inappropriately will not be allowed to
participate in class and will be asked to observe.
BALLET OR
COMBO—Ages 3-5
Girls: Black or pastel
leotard, (no skirts,) pink or white tights or thin bobby
socks, pink ballet slippers with elastic straps
attached, long hair secured in a bun, shorter hair
secured with a headband and clips as needed. For combo:
add black Mary Jane-style tap shoes with NO split soles.
Laces replaced with elastic.
Boys: White
short-sleeved fitted T-shirt, black fitted legging pants
or black shorts with white socks, or black tights with
no socks, black ballet shoes. For combo: Add black
oxford-style tap shoes with NO split soles.
BALLET—Ages 6 and up
Girls: Black
leotard, (skirts may be allowed for girls 13 and up—it
is the instructor’s final decision,) non-shiny ”ballet
pink” tights, pink ballet shoes: solid-sole for ages 6-7
and all ages beginners and re-entry students; split sole
for ages 8+ with trained feet (preferably Capezio,
Bloch, Sansha, or Leo’s), long hair secured in a bun or
French-braid, shorter hair secured with a headband and
clips as needed. Older girls may wear canvas shoes.
****For the student’s safety: Do NOT buy en pointe shoes
unless instructed by the director. Do not alter en
pointe shoes until the instructor has approved the
shoes.
Boys: White
short-sleeved fitted T-shirt, black fitted legging pants
or black shorts with white socks, or black tights with
no socks, black ballet shoes.
HIP-HOP—All Ages
Girls: Leotard or
T-shirt, jazz pants and baggy attire are allowed at the
discretion of the instructor and school director. If
tennis shoes/sneakers are chosen, they must have white
soles and must never be worn on the street. They are to
be reserved exclusively for dance class to protect the
floor.
Boys: Baggy pants and
T-shirts are allowed at the discretion of the instructor
and school director. Shoes are same as the girls.
JAZZ—All
Ages
Girls: Any color
Unitard or leotard and non-shiny tights or fitted Jazz
pants or stretch-pants, or shorts with tights
underneath. No bare-midriffs or overly revealing
leotards allowed, decided at the discretion of the
director. Black Jazz shoes (preferably Capezio, Bloch,
Sansha, or Leo’s.) NOT dance sneakers or jazz sneakers,
please. Hair pulled up and back neatly from face and
secured to head.
Boys: Any color
T-shirt or fitted workout shirt, dance or exercise pants
or shorts that do not restrict movement. Shoes: same as
the girls.
MODERN—All Ages
Girls: Any color
leotard and footless tights or Unitard, bare feet, hair
secured up and away from face.
Boys: Any color T-shirt
or fitted workout shirt, dance or exercise pants or
shorts that do not restrict movement, bare feet.
PILATES—Adult
Tight
fitting clothing so the instructor can make sure the
technique is being executed correctly.
TAP—
Girls: Any color
Unitard or leotard and non-shiny tights or fitted Jazz
pants or stretch-pants, or shorts with tights
underneath. No bare-midriffs or overly revealing
leotards allowed, decided at the discretion of the
director. Hair pulled up and back neatly from face and
secured to head.
Beginer and Adv. Beginner: Mary Jane-style
tap shoes, NO split soles, laces replaced with elastic.
Pre-Teen to Adult Beginners and Intermediate
Youth: Black Oxford-style tap shoes, NO split soles.
Upper Intermediate-Advanced: Tan character
shoes with 1 ½” heels and Capezio Tel-Tone taps.
Boys: Any color
T-shirt or fitted workout shirt, dance or exercise pants
or shorts that do not restrict movement. Black
Oxford-style tap shoes.
